PRIMARY FUNCTION: The VDC Engineer II leads the day-to-day VDC effort on a design/construction project. 

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: VDC Engineer II typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Create virtual mock-ups and other modeling activities
  • Produce construction phase VDC reports, meeting minutes and schedule updates
  • Actively engaging in collaborative problem solving with architects, engineers, Gilbane field team members and trade contractors
  • Actively participate in colocation activities
  • Lead the MEP coordination process
  • Write blog posts, innovation whitepapers and run small group webinars related to VDC



  • BS or MS degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
  • 2 + years of relevant experience
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience



  • Detailed understanding of the design and construction process, including: virtual mockups, visual schedules, master plans, construction sequences
  • Advanced knowledge of BIM software applications such as Revit, Navisworks, Synchro, Solibri, Faro Scene, ReCap, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to assist with basic VDC software troubleshooting and basic hardware troubleshooting
  • Ability to adjust communication approach and format to meet the needs of differing personalities, expectations and types of clients and designers
  • Ability to organize, format and present to communicate progress, problems or status in a clear, concise manner to the client, as well as members of the project and design teams
  • Produce high quality work in a timely fashion with little direct oversight
