Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Project Engineer II - Electrical assists the Project Manager in obtaining, evaluating, coordinating and distributing the information and authorizations necessary to construct the project on time, within budget and to the quality specified. In the performance of this function the Project Engineer II - Electrical is responsible for protecting and promoting the interests of both the business and client in all matters as well as demonstrating the personal characteristics of a developing leader.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Project Engineer II - Electrical typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Field Oversight of all Electrical, Fire Alarm, SCADA, DDC, Telecommunication, and Security Systems to include procurement, submittal development and review, and construction activities
  • Coordination of all special inspectors, 3rd party testing, and seismic designs associated with the electrical systems
  • Coordination with the TAB/DALT, Commissioning activities, and Performance Verification Testing (PVT)
  • Ensure status reports on RFIs, Submittals and other Documents are prepared and presented
  • Effectively issue Request for Quotations and work packages with Trade Contractors specialty electrical suppliers, subcontractors and inspectors/testing
  • Successfully update project schedules with CPM techniques
  • Timely document field quality activities
  • Prepare change management reports, estimates and other cost report documents
  • Establish and maintain the project quality files and documentation systems
  • Continually promote organizational change initiatives, suggests new ideas, and adapt to work within new structures and processes
  • Continually seek to understand customer goals and needs and act with a sense of urgency in meeting customer needs and demonstrating value
  • Develop industry relationships and expand professional networks that have potential to generate opportunities for Gilbane


  • BS or MS degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 5 years’ experience performing construction projects on $5-15 million commercial/industrial construction projects
  • 3 years’ experience managing DoD or other Federal Government Constructions projects
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel user
  • Per client requirements, must be a US citizen
  • Willing to travel abroad on assignments in the vicinity of site for 1 to 3 years
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance through the US Government
  • Have the ability to obtain Status of Force Agreement (SOFA) status for Japan and Korea and International Driver’s License
  • Experience working on CAA or ICD 705 projects is preferred
  • US Army Corp of Engineers experience is preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certified
  • Basic MEP Knowledge
  • Understanding of Contract Document & Specifications
  • Knowledge of CMiC helpful
