Under the direction of our Project Staff, the Full Time Project Engineer position is designed to expose recent graduates to the application of engineering and construction management principles.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar major and a strong desire to enter the construction management industry. All majors accepted, construction internship experience a plus.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Project Engineer typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure Contract Document Logs are maintained and updated as needed
  • Accurately process and distribute submittals and RFI’s
  • Participate in and write notes, instructions or minutes from meetings that clearly communicate discussion agreements, decisions, and action
  • Proactively seek to understand customer goals and needs and consistently look for ways to support them
  • Ensure planned deadlines are met
  • Continually seek to understand customer goals and needs and act with a sense of urgency in meeting customer needs and demonstrating value
  • Develop industry relationships and expand professional networks that have potential to generate opportunities for Gilbane


  • BS OR MS degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 1-2 Years plus Internship with CM / General Contractor Organization
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • NSBE member and/or 2018 Annual National Convention attendee preferred


  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
