PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Estimator I is responsible for conceptualizing and interpreting the scope of work from both incomplete or schematic documents and complete detailed documents as well as working closely with other Preconstruction team members to assist with the successful delivery of design phase services.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Estimator I typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Perform both conceptual and detailed estimating on civil, architectural and structural portions of projects ranging in size from $10M to $100+M
  • Prepare detailed QTO’s for Divisions 1 – 12 & 14 and SOW’s for Divisions 13, 15 & 16.
  • Work with Chief Estimator in preparing conceptual estimates for Design – Build projects.
  • Produce quantitative surveys and accurate pricing for a project to support a Lump Sum Price.
  • Coordinate project documents for Lump Sum Bid project delivery methods.
  • Lead detailed reviews of civil, architectural and structural subcontractor’s scope before award of project contracts.
  • Obtain and present unit pricing data.
  • Responsible for outlining clarifications and qualifications within an estimate.
  • Provide back up for estimates to be used during analysis and review.



  • Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or equivalent degree
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years experience as an estimator.
  • Proficient in MS Office with a working knowledge of iSqFt, Costworks, OST and Timberline.
  • Working knowledge of scopes and quantities from plans and specifications.
  • Must be a team player who can communicate effectively with others
  • Or demonstrate an equivalent combination of education and experience



  • Able to develop and maintain working relationships with subs and suppliers
  • Able to maintain digital files and documents in an organized manner
