PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Construction Process Engineer obtains, evaluates, coordinates and distributes the information and authorizations necessary to construct pharmaceutical process systems (process chilled and hot water, steam, WFI, aseptic piping, process waste and vent, etc.) for the project on time, within budget and to the quality specified.  In the performance of this function, the Process Engineer is responsible to protect and promote the interest of both the business and client in all matters as well as demonstrate the personal characteristics of a mid-level leader.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Construction Process Engineer typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Procurement support and bid package development taking into account coordination across multiple bid packages for electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and controls and including requirements for cGMP, commissioning, and FDA validation requirements.
  • Coordinate technical requirements of the contract documents, review shop drawings, and lead the MEP coordination process for process piping, ductwork, and equipment.
  • Coordinate owner-furnished equipment with building utilities for size, location, logistics, and future maintenance requirements.
  • Assist with the quality assurance/quality control inspections of process piping, ventilation, and equipment. Perform first delivery inspections to confirm compliance with contract documents.       Represent the CM at factory acceptance testing.
  • Successfully manage the change management process.       Accurately estimate and negotiate design changes and change orders.
  • Lead the testing, commissioning, and validation process for process equipment and systems, including development and tracking of inspection and test reports, commissioning data, and validation reports.
  • Participate and meaningfully contribute to monthly cost report meetings
  • Successfully adhere to the project controls procedures to include monthly cost control, pay requests and cost reporting
  • Effective tracking of material fabrication and expediting of material deliveries
  • Continually encourage others to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to problems and opportunities
  • Develop business through identifying client needs, identifying Gilbane opportunity matches, and communicating the value and differentiation of Gilbane to prospective clients
  • Proactively review customer feedback, build a customer centric mentality within teams, and demonstrate knowledge of different market sectors and delivery systems to ensure positive customer relations


  • BS OR MS degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 8 or more years’ of construction experience with CM/General Contractor Organization working on $20-$50 mm construction project
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with cGMP and FDA validation requirements strongly preferred.



  • Proven capability to establish specific measurable, attainable performance goals and hold others accountable for achieving them

  • Ability to articulate financial knowledge and customer satisfaction awareness of how the company makes a profit
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt personal communication style to suit the target audience and situation including highly effective presentations, clear and concise writing on complex and sensitive topics, and understanding through paraphrasing and use of relevant examples
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience with BIM and Navisworks for MEP coordination/clash detection. Experience with Revit a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Financial Management familiarity
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certified
  • MEP Knowledge
  • Understanding of Contract Document & Specifications
  • Proficient in Prolog/Procore/Expedition
  • Expertise in CMiC preferred
