PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Chief Estimator I has overall responsibility for administration and execution of all estimating activities for Business Unit.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Chief Estimator I typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Establish Customer Satisfaction goals for Estimating
  • Leads in developing accurate pricing for design-phase or GMP estimates
  • Maintains appropriate industry contacts to insure best and final information on market pricing and trends
  • Identify and resolve problems under conditions of incomplete information and uncertainty
  • Schedules department estimating and deliverables and balances workload accordingly
  • Manages the department to assure multiple duties and responsibilities are executed by all staff members
  • Communicates with operations staff in planning work schedules
  • Identify and communicate risks and outcomes affecting the Business Unit
  • Assumes overall lead for business unit strategic planning process
  • Trains and develops staff
  • Manages BD process
  • Responsible for keeping BUL informed of activities, progress and problems as it pertains to Estimating activities.


  • Bachelor in Engineering
  • 15-20 years relevant experience
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
